Ogun: Adebutu returns to Nigeria amid Absconding Allegation

After a nine-month medical leave in the United Kingdom, the Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship candidate in the previous Ogun State election, Ladi Adebutu, has returned to Nigeria.

Afolabi Orekoya, Mr. Adebutu’s media aide, confirmed his return through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.

In a circulating social media video, Adebutu was seen alongside his running mate, Adekunle Akinlad, and other PDP leaders and supporters, celebrating their reunion at the airport.

During his absence, Adebutu faced accusations from the All Progressives Congress (APC) of evading legal responsibilities related to alleged vote-buying in the March 18 governorship election in the state.

Tunde Oladunjoye, the APC State Publicity Secretary, who recently became Governor Dapo Abiodun’s Senior Media Consultant, reiterated these claims against the PDP candidate just 24 hours before his return, urging him to return and address the allegations.

Despite the accusations, Adebutu had previously refuted claims of absconding, asserting through a video that his stay in the UK was solely for medical purposes and not to evade legal issues.
